KLMBH Bash #317 - Bukit Beruntung - Long Scribe Report

ree

A good meetup point – a temple. A reminder to be thankful for a wonderful Sunday and hope all are blessed with good health. One thing I like about KLMBH is punctuality. With a strong turnout of enthusiastic riders, we commenced our ride at 9:18 a.m.

First traffic jam was to maneuver around the herd of cows roaming around. For some, the journey started off with wet feet/shoes as it's water potholes everywhere. It’s all about navigating in a zigzag manner to avoid the milky teh tarik water.

It was scorching hot but thankfully the thick jungle shaded us from the sun.  The initial kilometres were simple, thanks to clear paper trails. I must say there was quite a climb up to KM9 and of course the ones with e-bikes got fooled first as the peak brought us to an end where there's a stack of papers that points to a cross point. The team dispersed to search for clues, after which we needed to retrace our steps to proceed with the journey. During the descent, a phone was found and later returned to its owner at the regrouping point, who had not noticed its loss. This incident illustrates the bumpy rides of the journey!

As the journey progressed, the path became somewhat more demanding, featuring brief steep descents and rocky terrain. There were few segments that even me with ebike had to push our bikes up. Well, here in Malaysia, that’s why we call MTB “Mari Tolak Basikal”.

Just slightly after 1030am we arrived at a junction, left to the short ride or right to long ride. The long riders group became more dispersed and smaller as we ride based on our own paced. At around KM21 the ride took on like a merry go round to let us be aware on the beauty of palm estate!! Shuts. Indeed, a good April fool in the month of July.

At this juncture also I suddenly found myself all alone with no riders at sight! Things do take change pretty rapidly at it was all quiet and no phone signal!

Why we do mountain bike? Cos we are fearless. lol. Had to get bearings aligned and thankfully managed to sight back the paper trails. It’s all safe when you can hear dogs barking protecting their territory and the sight of nicely paved road.

Thank You KLMBH for the ride. Yes our bikes and cloths are all dirty and muddy. You did good and please keep it Up!
