Kuala Lumpur Mountain Bike Hash

Welcome to KLMBH!

E-mail Print PDF

Selamat Datang / Welcome to the home page of the Kuala Lumpur Mountain Bike Hash. KLMBH holds monthly Mountain Bike Hashes ("bashes") in the Klang Valley area, usually on the last Sunday of each month.

You're welcome to join us on our forays into the countryside around KL. Turn up at the designated Bash site and pay just RM 15 to ride with us if you are not already a member. If you are a member, it's FOC.

If you wish to join as a member: download, print and fill in the document below and bring it with you to the next bash, along RM70 note (actually one RM50 and two RM10, but you get the idea), and you're in the club. Junior can be a member for RM30.

If you are not sure whether you want to become a member? Easy. You can ride as a guest by paying a guest fee. If after the ride you decide that the bash is the bees' knees, the most fun you have had with your clothes on and it's making you craving for more, then join as a member by paying the difference. Of course, this is valid for the day only.

Safety Alert – Check Your Equipment for Hazards

E-mail Print PDF

21st August 2010

There have been a couple of injuries at the bash recently when bikers fell off their bikes and were injured by the own equipment:
-
Epic Bash, 27th June 2010: Biker slipped going down a muddy trail and sustained a deep cut in right calf from handlebar edge. Injury required medical attention and received 6 stitches. Handlebar edge was sharp and was missing its stopper.
-
Bentong Bash, 25th July 2010: Biker fell whilst riding a steep, technical downhill. Rectangular metal clasp on wristwatch tore a patch of skin below left wrist. Injury required medical attention and received 13 stitches.

These injuries can also occur during normal rides, like when I impaled my left thigh on my stem whilst riding in Kiara many years ago. The injury required medical attention and received 13 stitches. The stem was sharp and was missing the stopper that could have prevented the injury.

Please therefore check your bike and equipment for hazards, and either eliminate them or make them safe. For example, I had a light mount on my handlebar with sharp edges. I hardly use lights on my bike as I don’t normally cycle at night, so I have taken the mount off.

Ride safe!

First Aid Workshop and Course

E-mail Print PDF

Fellow Bashers,

This year the Committee has been working hard to improve safety. Among the measures that the Committee has undertaken is to organize in cooperation with St. John’s Ambulance Malaysia a one day Basic First Aid Workshop, and a separate two-day accredited First Aid Course. KLMBH is subsidizing the cost of these classes for members.

The one day First Aid Workshop will be held on Saturday 9th October from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in PJ. It is free for KLMBH members.

The accredited and more comprehensive two-day First Aid Course will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the same location. The subsidized cost for KLMBH members is RM100, and for hares who have set hashes in the past two years, only RM50.

Please register your participation by emailing Bash Bones at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  as soon as possible. Please hurry as places are limited!

Regards,

Bash Bones
